So. My latest issue of Playboy arived today. And now I'm filled with rage and hatred yet again.
Oh, right, sorry. Okay, for those of you who weren't aware, the average issue of Playboy has maybe twenty of its 120-140 pages devoted to pictures of nekkid wimmen. Page 50 of the latest issue (April 2007), is where a story in Forum (not at all like Penthouse Forum, trust me) talks about something good in Iraq.
Labor Unions are forming in Iraq. Pro-western, feminist, anti-fundamentalist, labor unions. And they have received no support at ALL from the US government up to now. In fact, in 2005, one of their leaders was strangled in his home because the US would not un-freeze the union's assets so they could hire bodyguards to protect him.
So, Democratic Party, you are on notice. Get the lead out of your asses and help these people.
Now.

Goldarnit, now I'm mad too. These people are trying so hard (and isn't this our goal too?) to stand on their own and yet Congress cherry-picks the money we'll spend to help them.
And that's why I can't vote for a Democrat.
Unless they show me they're doing something worthwhile.
Wait.
Wait.
Are you trying to tell me...and I'm supposed to believe...that you're that guy that gets Playboy for the articles?
As for labor unions, well, I have a thing about them. But, in this particular case, where there is actually work for them to do (towards making safer, fairer work conditions for everyone), I try to push down those feelings. Because, yes, just as labor unions were once needed (and not yet corrupted) in this country, they are needed in other places in the world, from time to time, too.
Opus,
Now you feel my pain.
SF,
You and I feel exactly the same about labor unions. Their time in the US has come and gone, but they can still serve a valuable function in other places, especially developing nations where worker's rights are non-existent. In fact, if anyone who espouses the goal of raising living standards worldwide is not full of shit, they will acknowledge that encouraging the formation and growth of labor unions in developing countries is essential to the process.
And yeah, I am that guy. But I like the pictures, too. Ukraine's Playmate of the Year is MY kind of woman!! She looks like she could not only lift me with one hand, she could tie me in a pretzel knot with the other. Boo-yeah!!
You actually READ the articles?!
That's just too freakin weird...

Eh, no woman would ever believe it, but there is actually some excellent journalism going on in between the nekkidity. Hell, the 20 Questions feature is often worth the issue price all by itself.
But, you know, I'm a guy, so I'm almost certainly lying, right?
